My plan was to send out some thoughts on the Atlanta jail, but I got run over my schedule — recorded 7 episodes, my eldest was home sick, and I am now in California — so it’ll have to wait until early next week. Until then, here are some things you may enjoy reading this weekend! I’d love to know what what you’re reading and watching, too. Let me know in the comments.
Baltimore has a new Black-led nonprofit newspaper called Baltimore Beat. Their second issue has a good article on criminalizing domestic violence survivors and pretrial data from a local court watch organization: https://baltimorebeat.com/criminalizing-survival/
I’ve been bingeing on Scene on Radio podcast (I’m late) especially seasons 4 (“The Land That Never Has Been Yet”) and 2 (“Seeing White”) and the new Netflix show “Mo” the latest from Palestinian American comedian Mo Amer (hilarious and complex).
